Hatha Yoga

This practice is the introduction to yoga. I will guide you through the following steps below to start your yoga journey:

  • Pranayama - Expansion or extension of breathe, "prana" meaning vital energy. Pranayamas are breathing techniques to help the flow of the energy channels, also known as nadis
  • Asana - Holding a posture while remaining physically and mentally steady, calm, quiet and comfortable. This opens up the energy channels and psychic centers. "Sthiram sukham aasanam" as per Patanjali in the Yoga Sutras - " the position which is comfortable and steady". Brings higher awareness of our body, breath and mind.
  • Shatkarma - In early yoga, shatkarma purification (cleansing) practice which is just Hatha yoga is all about. "Shat" meaning six and "karma" meaning action. Shartkarma's consist of six purification techniques to create balance and harmony between the two major energy flows ida (lunar) and pingala (solar) of the subtle body.
  • Mudra - Hand "gestures" or "attitudes". Mudras are a combination of subtle physical movements which change the attitude of energy flow, deeping the awareness and concentration linking the individual pranic force with the cosmic force.
  • Bandha - To "hold", "tighten" or "lock", a technique to affect the pranic body. The aim of bandhas is to lock the pranas in certain areas, redirect the flow into the sushumna nadi (Brahma) for spiritual awakening.

Guided Meditation

All sessions come with guided meditation. This is a practice that trains your mind’s attention and awareness to achieve a mentally clear and emotionally calm state. The practice uses a mindfulness technique where you clear out your mind or focus on a thought and body activity.
